Online stores · Georgetown, Guyana
E-commerce websites for businesses in Guyana.
Selling online in Guyana isn't the same as selling online in the States. Plenty of customers would rather message than type in a card number, payment gateways are harder to get, and delivery is often arranged by a phone call. We build online stores that work with all of that instead of pretending it doesn't exist.
What's in a TG Media online store
- Product pages that look like a big-brand store on a phone: photos, sizes and variants, sold-out flags.
- A cart that remembers what's in it between visits.
- Checkout that fits Guyana: a WhatsApp order with everything already written, or online payment where your business qualifies, bank transfer, or pay on delivery.
- An order notification every time someone buys.
- Delivery and pickup options with your own zones and fees.
- Drops, countdowns and pre-orders for launches.
- Product pages Google can read, so items can show up when people search for them.
Case study: Interlude.XI, a Guyanese streetwear store
Interlude.XI is a Guyanese streetwear label that sells in drops. The store is built around that: a live countdown builds the wait, the shop and cart work like a big-brand store, and checkout ends in a WhatsApp chat with the whole order already written: every piece, size, quantity and G$ price, and the total. The brand confirms payment and delivery in the chat, so the store needs no payment provider and no monthly checkout fees.
RUFF Automotive uses the same idea for an industrial and automotive supplier: its product lines online, and buyers order on WhatsApp without visiting.
WhatsApp checkout or online payments: which do you need?
WhatsApp checkout is the fastest way to start selling online in Guyana. There's no gateway application and no transaction fees, and customers get to talk to a real person, which a lot of them want. The trade-off is that someone has to answer the chats, and the sale isn't paid until they do.
Online payments (MMG, card, PayPal) take the money at checkout, so orders come in paid, even at 2am. They need a merchant account, which takes approval time, and every sale has a fee.
Many stores start with WhatsApp checkout and add online payments once orders pick up. We build the store so that switch is an update, not a rebuild. Every payment option in Guyana, explained →
Does Shopify work in Guyana?
You can build and run a Shopify store from Guyana, but check which payment options Shopify offers your business before you commit: Shopify's own payment system isn't available everywhere, and a store without it needs a third-party payment provider or manual orders. Add the monthly subscription and app fees, in US dollars.
A custom store costs more to build and less to run: no monthly platform fee, checkout built for WhatsApp and local payments, and a design that doesn't look like every other theme. We'll tell you honestly which suits your business.
Who we build online stores for
Clothing and streetwear labels, hardware and auto parts, beauty, food and baked goods, electronics, furniture, and businesses selling to the diaspora who want to send something home. If you're already taking orders through Instagram DMs or WhatsApp, a store makes those same orders faster and cleaner.
What an online store costs
Online stores are quoted per project. The price depends mostly on how many products you have, the checkout method, and whether you need stock or delivery logic. What a website costs in Guyana →
FAQ
Questions people ask.
Straight answers. Anything else, ask on WhatsApp.
Does Shopify work in Guyana?
You can run a Shopify store from Guyana, but Shopify's own payment system isn't available in every country, so check your payment options first, and budget for monthly fees in US dollars. A custom store avoids the platform fee and can use WhatsApp checkout or local payment options.
Can customers order through WhatsApp from my website?
Yes. When a customer checks out, the site opens WhatsApp with their full order already written: items, sizes, quantities and the total. You confirm payment and delivery in the chat. It's how the Interlude.XI store works.
Can my online store accept MMG payments?
If your business is approved as an MMG merchant, we can build MMG payment into your checkout, and we'll test the whole flow before launch. Until then, customers can pay by MMG transfer after a WhatsApp order.
Can I take card payments on my website in Guyana?
Card payments need an e-commerce merchant account from a bank or a payment provider that serves Guyanese businesses. Ask your bank about online card acceptance; once it's approved, we connect it to your checkout.
Can I update products and prices myself?
Yes. We set the store up so you can add products, change prices and mark items sold out yourself, or send the changes to us.
Can I sell to customers overseas?
Yes. Many Guyanese stores sell to the diaspora in the US, Canada and the UK. We can add USD pricing, an online payment option that works for overseas buyers, and delivery-in-Guyana options for people buying for family.
